About

Background, current focus, and what I'm building.

I am a third-year Computer Science student from the Philippines with a strong interest in systems programming, developer tooling, and performance-oriented software. My journey began with Linux and open-source software, which sparked a fascination with understanding how computers work beneath the surface. Today, I spend most of my time building applications in Rust, exploring low-level systems concepts, and refining my Linux development environment.

Background

It all started when I got my first gaming laptop and somehow stumbled upon Linux. To this day, I still don't know exactly how I discovered it, but that single discovery opened the door to a whole new world of interests and hobbies.

What began with experimenting with lightweight window managers soon led me to Vim, the terminal, and the broader ecosystem of open-source software. The deeper I went, the more fascinated I became by how computers work beneath the surface.

At some point, I realized that this wasn't just a passing interest. I wanted to pursue a career in Computer Science. Since then, that curiosity and hyperfocus haven't left me. If anything, they've continued to grow, constantly pushing me to learn, build, and explore more.

What Im currently focusing on

  • Systems Programming: Writing fast, deterministic code and exploring low-overhead backend architecture.
  • Desktop Applications: Developing local-first applications using Rust, Tauri, and modern web technologies, designed to solve real-world problems.
  • Environment Optimization: Creating highly personalized, keyboard-driven Linux development environments to maximize productivity.

What I'm currently building

  • Latent Notes: Developing an open source, local-first desktop note-taking application using Tauri and SvelteKit.
  • Personal Website: Designing and coding my portfolio site using Zola, Alpine.js, and PicoCSS for a clean and lightweight interface.

This site is phase 1 of a bigger system. The blog is where I think in public.
